“We selected Progressive Lighting and Energy Services to address comprehensive lighting retrofits at 11 District facilities. The workmanship and communication was outstanding. All work was scheduled around instructional hours, and crews coordinated well with our site administrators and maintenance staff. They left all spaces in clean and orderly, and handle warranty work to our satisfaction. The quality of our lighting is greatly improved, our equipment now standardized throughout our facilities, and we anticipate the annual savings will save our District over $110,000 for many years. This was a significant project, and the folks at Progressive were a pleasure to work with.”

Each month since 1992, the Recreation staff at San Diego State University has extended special recognition to an individual whose extraordinary efforts have advanced our success by recognizing a person with an AS Recreation-Appreciation Award. As the Director of Recreation, I want to congratulate you for being selected by the staff as the recipient of this month's (September 2009) special award. You were nominated by Glen Brandenburg for your significant contributions to installation of the new lighting in the Aztec Recreation Center. We want to recognize that you have been able to develop an excellent plan to re-lamp the facility, after midnight, with a minimal amount of disruption of our normal operations. We appreciate having your hands-on experience working directly with us and getting our project completed on-time. The new lights make a lot less noise and brighten all corners of the building. On behalf of the everyone in Recreation at SDSU, we want to recognize and appreciate that you have helped us become a special place - thank you!

Mike Manning began his energy career roughly 30 years ago, in CPUC hearings supporting a conservation loan program for residential customers that advanced into the Zero Interest Percent (ZIP) program. As Director of Energy for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, Mr. Manning managed all major retrofit projects (well over 50) District wide. He established one of the first utility accounting services in the country, documenting $2.5M in savings in for his District. In 1989, Mr. Manning aggregated California Schools petitioning the CPUC to deregulate the natural gas industry. This successfully became known as the SPURR Decision. Over half of the schools and medical facilities in California have participated in Mr. Manning’s procurement consortiums that have served over 35,000 educational, municipal and commercial customers. Mr. Manning has been a presenter at several National Energy Conferences and a Trainer of Electrical and Gas Utility staff. He represented the California health care industry during the California Electricity Restructuring proceedings and has been an Energy Consultant to all Sonoma County schools. Mr. Manning’s interest outside of Energy include food, wine, travel, art, dance and assisting people with disabilities.
